The study course introduces students with the most important topicalities regarding climate change and economic perspectives. Course consists of three main topics. The first topic illustrates trends and projections of climate change in global and regional scale, with main emphasis on Mediterranean region. The second topic examines the costs of a global agreement to reduce CO2 emissions and explains regional disparities of the effects on countries' economic growth. The third topic analyzes the different mechanisms and measures used in the context of environmental policies and in particular to deal with climate change. This topic also illustrates the levers for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in different sectors and the foreseeable impacts on economic growth and development. The course extends students observational field to the global scale and gives practical skills in the assessment of climate change and in the analysis of different measures and mechanisms used to face climate change and reduce GHG.
