The study course introduces students with forage production from grasslands and most important topicalities regarding climate change. The first topic illustrates animal feed resources, importance of sustainable production system, impact of climate change on productivity, forage quality and on animal production.

The second topic gives possibility to study growth, development and characteristics of annual and perennial grasses and forage legumes, impact of climate changes to growth of grasses, importance of legumes in decreasing of mineral nitrogen fertilizer as possibility to mitigate GHG emissions.

The third topic analyzes the fodder crop production, using of crop mixtures and their management, adaptation possibilities to climate changes in grassland management.

The fourth topic analyze uses of annual and perennial forage crops. The fifth topic analyze fodder conservation, parameters influencing the conservation process, organization, losses, quality appreciation and using of preservatives.

The sixth topic gives possibility to evaluate forage quality and anti-nutritional factors and to find possibilities to mitigate GHG emissions by increasing of forage quality.

The course extends students observational field to organize forage management in sustainable way and gives practical skills in the adaptation to climate change and to analyze importance of high quality forage for animal feeding.
